Yesterday afternoon, we had planned to explore the Reserve and do some animal viewing. However, it rained on and off all day, making a ride in an open safari vehicle less than pleasant. So, upon our return, we decided to relax in the lounge, warm up by the fire, and watch the South Africa (SA) vs. Argentina rugby match. Rugby is like a religion here in SA!
After another fantastic dinner prepared by Chef Oscar, we headed back to our room. By around 6 p.m., the rain had become steady, and by 8 p.m. it was pouring, accompanied by dramatic thunder and lightning. The storm continued all through the night. We honestly can’t remember experiencing such a loud and prolonged thunderstorm! The thunderstorm is predicted to last into this evening, so probably no animal sightings today. 😪
We were invited to Douw’s parents to meet some of their friends and a long lunch.
Tomorrow morning, we have an 8:40 a.m. flight from Bloemfontein, about an hour away, to Cape Town. We’ll be spending a week in Cape Town before flying on to Barcelona.
