The Hop-on/Hop-off Bus Tour

Today, Debbie and I were on our own as Douw had business to attend to. Conveniently, there’s a hop-on/hop-off bus stop right across from our building, so we decided to explore the city by bus. It was windy and a bit chilly, with a high of only 65°F.

The route took us through the central part of the city.

Museum of Contemporary Art

Even though it was clear and windy, Table Mountain was completely covered in clouds!

Lions Head, from certain angles it looks exactly like a lions head.

We then went east to Camps Bay, before continuing through Clifton—the most exclusive residential enclave in Cape Town. Clifton feels like a cross between Malibu and Monaco, with its stunning, ultra-luxurious condos and homes. We’ll be driving past this area again tomorrow on our way to see African penguins (also known as Cape or Jackass penguins), and I’m hoping to capture a few good photos then.

The "Twelve Apostles" There are actually 18 peaks, they are stunning!

We hopped off the bus at Victoria Wharf and enjoyed a delicious sushi lunch paired with a bottle of South African Rosé.

After lunch, we explored the massive Victoria Wharf Mall, which spans three floors and is the largest mall in South Africa.

When we finished shopping, we walked the two miles back to our apartment.

Our apartment is in Mouille Point. After a refreshing shower and a bit of rest, we’re meeting Douw for dinner at 6:30 down the street at our new favorite restaurant!
