After breakfast, Debbie and I made our way to the Sanctuary. We were thrilled to see the Manager, someone we know quite well from previous cruises. This trip truly feels like a homecoming, as we’ve run into so many familiar faces among the crew.
Once we were comfortably settled into our loungers, it felt like we were back "home."
Around 1 p.m., a sudden burst of wind and rain chased everyone out of the Sanctuary. It was quite the scene watching everyone scurry for cover—definitely one of those “wish we had it on video” moments!
Unfortunately, the weather also put the kibosh on the 3 p.m. Tea Time. Debbie headed off to the Princess Theater to meet up with the family for the “Deal or No Deal” game show, while I retreated to the couch in our stateroom to continue reading.
Tonight was our first formal night of the voyage. I have to say, this was one of the most casually dressed groups of passengers we’ve seen in quite some time. Only about 25% of guests opted to dress up for the occasion—a noticeable difference between shorter cruises and longer voyages.
Our Director of Restaurant Operations, Jacques, has been amazing! He’s incredibly friendly and charismatic, and we’ve had the pleasure of knowing him for many years.
After a delicious dinner, the kids headed off to enjoy a game show and The Voice of the Sea. Meanwhile, Debbie and I met up with a wonderful couple we connected with through Cruise Critic. They're from upstate New York, and before we knew it, we had talked for nearly three hours! We all agreed—we’ve made a friendship that feels like it will last well beyond this cruise.
This is one of the things we love most about cruising: meeting great people and making meaningful connections.
Tomorrow, we’ll be in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I’m especially looking forward to a “Cuban-style” lunch—can’t wait!
