Update from yesterday afternoon: Shortly after lunch, the rain rolled in and continued into the evening. Unfortunately, that led to the cancellation of the caviar sailaway party as well as the later Hawaiian deck party. The good news? The deck party was moved indoors to The Club at 9:30 p.m.
Rain or not, we still had a great evening. We met up with our new Australian friends, F & K, at the Observation Bar, and they introduced us to another couple they’ve known—and cruised with—for years. Before we knew it, the six of us were sitting down to dinner together at The Restaurant. Always fun when new friendships form so effortlessly onboard.
After dinner, Debbie and I headed over to The Club, where the party was already in full swing. The dance floor was packed, the energy was high, and we had a great time. 💃🕺
On another note, I received an email from a new blog follower asking why my food commentary seems to focus almost exclusively on seafood. The simple answer is that we’ve been pescatarians for nearly forty years. Years ago, due to a health issue, I gave up meat, and Debbie followed shortly thereafter. We still enjoy eggs and dairy, but seafood has been our go-to ever since—and that’s why it tends to dominate my food posts.
The seas were very “bumpy” overnight, and that motion carried right into the morning. It has also been raining. During yesterday’s Captain’s sailaway announcement, he warned us that the seas would remain rough for another 24 to 36 hours, but reassured everyone that as we continue further south, conditions should improve dramatically.
This morning we returned to The Restaurant for a light breakfast. Afterwards, we stopped by Seabourn Square to turn in our passports.
We had high hopes of spending the day poolside, but Mother Nature doesn’t seem to be on board with that plan just yet. 🌊☁️
