Cruise Day #11 - Sea Day 2 of 7

Last night was a lot of fun! The Observation Bar was noticeably less crowded than the previous evening. The sun finally made an appearance late in the afternoon, which allowed them to hold the long-awaited caviar event by the pool. That likely explains the quieter bar scene.

We made new friends with another couple from Florida, S & W. There seem to be plenty of Floridians onboard. Unfortunately, S took a fall while we were in Honolulu and broke her wrist. She’s now sporting a brand-new cast and can’t say enough good things about the onboard medical staff, who she found extremely impressive.

Several of our new friends managed to coerce us into joining their Trivia team today. They lost two team members and were clearly desperate for replacements. We tried to explain that Trivia really isn’t our thing, but we lost the battle 🤣. So, we’ll be reporting for duty at 11:15 am in The Club.

We wrapped up the evening with dinner at The Restaurant with our friend C from Australia, who is traveling solo on this voyage. Dinner was excellent, and the service was absolutely spot on!

This morning we awoke to fairly calm seas and clear skies. A very welcome sight. After our Trivia debut, it will definitely be pool time. 😎

While enjoying a breakfast of delicious Swedish pancakes in The Restaurant,
we were talking about just how many new friends we have made in such a short amount of time. We both attribute this to what we can best describe as a collegiate “country club” vibe. Much more so than what we have experienced on Princess voyages. The relaxed, friendly atmosphere is very much to our liking. I can definitely get used to this!

We met up with our Trivia team promptly at 11:15, just as instructed. As we entered The Club, we were immediately impressed by the beverage table: Bloody Marys, Champagne, Mimosas, and iced water, all patiently waiting for us. Now that’s how you motivate a Trivia team. 🍾😄

We had a great time with our eight teammates and, surprisingly, actually did quite well! Brains clearly function better when properly hydrated.

After Trivia, we returned to The Restaurant for lunch.

We continue to be surprised by how few people choose this venue for breakfast or lunch. Their loss, because the food and service are consistently superb. We both ordered the barramundi, which was cooked perfectly.
While there, we caught up with Karen, the Head Sommelier (our new best friend), and signed up for the Premium Iconic Reds tasting. It’s limited to just 15 participants and looks to be a fabulous event. 🍷Karen appreciated us bringing her the last three issues of the Wine Spectator magazine.
After lunch, we claimed some poolside lounges and will happily spend the afternoon right there. Dinner tonight will be back in The Restaurant. More details in mañana’s post.
