Cruise Day #6 - Sea Day

The seas were fairly calm overnight and this morning.

But, all good things come to an end.  As the Captain mentioned yesterday afternoon, the winds picked up quite rapidly and are now howling at 50 to 60 kts (58 to 69 mph)!  The Captain has altered our course, hugging the coastline to avoid the brunt of the winds.  Even with this new course, the ship is rocking strongly.

The dotting line below was our original plotted course.

Even with the rough seas, the Fitness Center was quite busy this morning.  The tops decks have been closed due to the winds.

At 10 am, the Captain made an announcement that we would have the worst of the winds during the next 4 hours.

Just as the Captain predicted, the winds died down around 3:00 pm. The seas were fairly calm for the remainder of the day and evening.

At Vines we met up with the family we met on our recent Coral cruise.  It was nice getting to know them better and we feel we will be long time friends.

At around 6 pm, the Captain made his rounds of Deck 5 (same Deck that we were on).  He was talking to everyone and posing for photos.  We spoke to him for awhile.  We have met him on previous cruises, he is so personable.  It is nice to see Captains making themselves accessible to passengers.

After a fantastic dinner, we danced for a bit in the Piazza.  The band had a full dance floor and was really rocking!  Once the band finished their set at 9:30, we carried our old bones to our stateroom.

¡Buenas Noches!
