Kruger Day #2

Our bungalows really make you feel like you’re on an elevated camping trip—giving you that true African safari vibe! They come with air conditioning, a refrigerator, a microwave, three twin beds, and a bathroom with a shower. And best of all, they’re a steal at just under $100 USD a night.

We left camp this morning at 9 am and had an AMAZING day—checking off two more of the “Big 5!” Early on, we saw plenty of giraffes,

Hyenas,

a warthog,

Kudus,

a Blue Wildebeest,

more Impalas than we could count, lots of elephants,

Nyalas

and even a herd of at least 15 African buffalo (one of the “Big 5”).

But the highlight of the day was spotting two huge male lions. At first, we watched them from a distance when suddenly one of them bolted off and disappeared. While he was gone, a massive crocodile moved in near the other lion. About 10 minutes later, the missing lion returned—dragging a kudu by the throat! What a sight! I even managed to capture a photo with all four—the lions, the kudu, and the crocodile—in a single frame. I drew blue lines under each animal to make them easier to spot.

In the below photos the lion is dragging the Kudo. In the photo with the blue lines, the lion in the center is dragging the Kudo. Crocodile is on the right and the other lion is on the left.

The pictures aren’t the best quality, but honestly not bad considering I’m only using my Samsung Galaxy S21 phone!

Douw had two grills going tonight for our braai!

Another great dinner and conversation!

And to all a good night!
