After a light breakfast, we took the city shuttle bus (€4.50 per person round trip). You can walk into town, but the shuttle saves about 45–50 minutes each way. It drops you off just outside the port, only a couple of blocks from Las Ramblas.
Not only is there a major subway construction project underway, but they were also filming a movie right in the center section. Craziness! The only reason we ventured that way was to make a couple of toiletry purchases at the supermarket near the end of Las Ramblas. Once that was accomplished, we made our way over to the Gothic Quarter. Debbie tried to do a little shopping but didn’t find anything she liked.
We ended our day at our favorite restaurant in Barcelona, located at the Mercat de Santa Caterina — highly recommended for either lunch or dinner.
Their avocado and burrata salad is amazing! The burrata comes encased in a delicate, cracker-like bubble — absolutely delicious!
