Day 11- Taipei, Taiwan

As we were pulling into the Keelung port this morning.

We booked bus transportation from Princess to and from downtown Taipei, 40 minutes away.  All passengers had to go thru an in-person immigration inspection with your passport.  At the inspection, they took our photo and index finger fingerprints.  We did the same thing on our return.

There was quite a long line, but at least it was organized.

I almost got arrested taking the below photo!  I took quite the tongue lashing in a language I didn't understand.  There were no signs prohibiting photos.

A couple of photos during our drive to Taipei.

We were dropped off at the 101 Building, the tallest in Taiwan and 10th tallest in the world.  It's name comes the the fact that it has 101 floors (+ 5 underground).  The elevator to the top takes only 37.5 seconds!

Many on our bus were doing the $20 USD pp tour to the 89th floor observation deck. We are not too crazy about extreme heights, so we passed.

A couple of photos of the 101 Building from various distances as we were walking.

Taipei is a modern, sprawling city of 2.5 million people.  And, today we covered 7.2 miles of it on foot, 16,000+ steps!  On our walk we got a great feel for the city and encountered several street markets.

The most impressive was the Jiangu Holiday Flower Market.  It went on for several lengths of a football field!  As an amateur Botanist, I was extremely impressed, especially of the Bonzai's.  I have never seen such nice specimens.

We made it back to the massive 101 Mall and a cold beer never tasted so good!
