We’ve arrived in Cozumel, Mexico!
Having visited Cozumel at least ten times in the past (though it’s been about a decade since our last visit), we debated whether or not to go ashore. Ultimately, Debbie’s urge to shop—and my craving for authentic Mexican food—won us over.
We walked off the ship around 10 a.m., just as passengers from the Carnival Breeze were also disembarking. Big mistake! The crowds were overwhelming as everyone tried to squeeze through a narrow shopping corridor to exit the port. They’ve built an enormous shopping center just for us “lucky” cruise passengers!
We made our way through the port area and into town. Debbie made some great purchases, including a beautiful pair of silver and opal earrings for our granddaughter. I found a charming open-air restaurant for lunch—and while we were eating, an old friend walked up to us!
Michael, who was our Reserve Collection Dining Manager on a recent Coral Princess cruise, happened to spot us. We really hit it off on that trip and even spent considerable time together off the ship. Unbeknownst to us, he’s been onboard the Enchanted for the past month. He joined us for lunch, and we had a wonderful time catching up.
I ordered cheese enchiladas with mole sauce—wow! They were incredible, as were the rice and black beans.
Toward the end of lunch, the skies opened up—lightning, thunder, and torrential rain! The streets quickly turned into rivers.
