Cruise Day #11 - Mahogany Bay, Roatán, Honduras

Good morning from Mahogany Bay, Roatán, Honduras!

We’re docked with the Carnival Jubilee backing into the “parking space” right in front of us.
The kids were among the first group of passengers to disembark this morning, headed out on a wildlife sanctuary excursion, booked directly via Boddentours.com

They had a fantastic time!

After breakfast, Debbie decided to explore the shopping area that was built specifically for cruise passengers, conveniently located just off the ship.

I, on the other hand, endured a torturous hour in the Fitness Center. I opted to skip the Sanctuary today and spend the day indoors—I think I’m suffering from a bit of tropical sun overdose!

Before Debbie headed off to shop, we made a lunch date at Gigi’s, the ship’s pizzeria. She returned with a few gift purchases, and we met as planned.

The pizzas were excellent—especially the Margherita with onions and peppers. Delicious!
After lunch, we headed back to our stateroom and enjoyed a quiet afternoon of reading.

The Most Traveled Guest Cocktail Party was held this evening in the Crooners Lounge. We had a wonderful time catching up with several Senior Staff Officers, including the Captain—someone we’ve known for many years. In fact, we’ll be visiting his hometown in Italy next year!
One of the absolute highlights of the evening was reuniting with a very dear friend, Oana. We first met her nearly 30 years ago, when she was on her very first contract as a Junior Waiter. Through hard work and dedication, she rose through the ranks to become the first—and still the only—female Maitre’d with Princess Cruises.

During the pandemic, she was promoted to a Corporate role in the Food & Beverage department, where she now travels across the fleet conducting audits. Although we've kept in touch, we hadn’t seen her in person since before the pandemic. Being reunited after all this time was incredibly special.
