Cruise Day #17 - Chania, Crete

Good morning Chania!

We’ve arrived in this charming city on the northwest coast of the Greek Island of Crete.

Before diving into today, let me finish up with last night’s dinner at Makato Ocean. The sushi was once again excellent—especially impressive for a cruise ship. But the real highlight was the bottle of sake that Stefan selected for us. It was incredibly smooth and paired perfectly with our meal!

Now on to today.

Side note: We’ve really been enjoying the professional Princess photos that come with the Premier package. It’s been years since we’ve taken any onboard photos, and they’ve turned out great! At least we think so! 😎

We met our friends, Jill and Mike from New Hampshire, outside the cruise terminal at 9:30 a.m. From there, we took the Princess shuttle ($10 per person) to Chania’s Old Town—a 20-minute ride. The drop-off point was conveniently located right across from the entrance to the old town.

Once there, we spent the morning exploring the quaint streets filled with shops, cafés, and restaurants. Jill loves to shop as much as Debbie does, so they made a great team! Both found a few items to purchase, and I even picked up a really nice shirt myself.

When we reached the 14th-century Venetian harbor, we chose one of the many waterfront restaurants for lunch.

The food was delicious—Debbie enjoyed mussels, Mike and I had swordfish steaks, and Jill went with an avocado sandwich.

The entire harbor area is pedestrian-only and very easy to explore on foot. Even with the 88° temperature, we didn’t mind at all—it was just too beautiful a day to care!

Tonight, for dinner we return to Omai Teppanyaki. We can't wait!

We had another outstanding meal at Umai Teppanyaki last night. Unfortunately, our tablemates—a couple from Canada and four women from the Sa...
