Today we begin our 8-day trek across the Atlantic π. Last night, just as we were getting ready to leave port, Captain Arrigo (back from his week in Miami) announced that we’d be in for windy and choppy seas for the next two days. The forecast looks better after that—let’s hope so! π€
Our favorite bartenders in Crooners, Chyser and Wirat, put on another hilarious singing-and-bartending show last night. They truly are the best bartenders onboard! πΈπ€
Now onto a very disappointing situation that seems to keep repeating itself on recent Princess voyages. They’re out of the premium red wines by the glass—again! When this voyage started almost a month ago, they had Silverado Cab, Paraduxx Blend, Belle Glos Pinot Noir, Ferrari Carano Merlot, and Grgich Hills Merlot. All gone! π©The replacements are nowhere near the same quality. Sure, you can still buy bottles of excellent red wines, but even with the 25% discount from the package, it’s a pricey option. Very disappointing—we’re not happy! We’ve made our feelings known to the appropriate Senior Staff Officers. Unfortunately, they claim they’re victims of the corporate buyers who place orders six months in advance. If that’s true, well… heads should be rolling at HQ! π₯ Our survey comments will definitely reflect our frustration.
We’re curious to see how our upcoming 48-day Seabourn voyage compares, as we cross the Pacific from Los Angeles to Sydney. This could be another nail in the Princess coffin! ⚓
Okay, rant over. At least for now. π
Last night, we were planning to dine at the Sanctuary Restaurant, but after checking the menu on our stateroom TV, we were left underwhelmed. So, on our way to Crooners, we stopped by Makoto Ocean, where our sushi dinners have always been excellent, to see if they had any openings. The gracious manager smiled and said, “For you guys, of course! How does 7:30 work?” Perfect!
We had a fantastic dinner—and they still had plenty of their premium sake! πΆπ And, our waiter Alvin, who we've known for many years, is one of the best onboard!
After a light breakfast of toast with cream cheese (Debbie, of course, had her usual gallon of black coffee ☕—I only have cappuccinos a couple of times per week π ), I headed to the Fitness Center. Debbie went up to the Sanctuary Club to secure lounges for the day.
After my hour on the elliptical machine π♂️, I cleaned up and met Debbie in the Sanctuary Club. The temperature outside hovered in the low 70s π€️, but it looked like it could rain ☔.
The earlier view from our balcony. For lunch today, we indulged in the Sanctuary Club snack buffet. It’s more than enough to keep us satisfied until dinner — especially with the addition of a Premier Sundae from the Deck 17 Coffee & Cones Bar! π¨ Yes, they’re still available and customizable. I went simple with vanilla gelato and chocolate syrup — perfection! π
