Cruise Day #17 - Bora Bora

Last night was another fun one in the Observation Bar! Our trivia friends have taken it upon themselves to write down the questions from the day’s event and quiz us later. Needless to say, we were laughing up a storm thanks to some of my intentionally silly answers. But honestly… how do they come up with some of these questions?

For example: what potato shares its name with the largest city in North Carolina? Have you ever heard of a Charlotte potato? Neither had anyone else at the bar, so at least I wasn’t alone! 😄 After plenty of laughs, we made our way to The Restaurant for dinner. It was a very relaxed evening—the dining room was unusually quiet, which made for a nice change of pace.

Later, we spent some time in The Club dancing to the band while waiting for the Dancing with the Stripes competition in the Grand Salon. The competition itself was fun, but Ross’s dance number with one of the ship’s dancers absolutely stole the show. He’s a true entertainer and clearly doesn’t take himself too seriously—hilarious!

This morning we arrived in Bora Bora to rough seas and rain, just as predicted. We’re right in the middle of a fairly large weather system.

We’ll see if it clears up, but if not, we’ll happily stay onboard. They also announced that all boat and 4x4 excursions have been canceled by the tour operators. Bora Bora is a stunning island… just not quite as magical under these weather conditions. 🌧️🌴

We decided to stay onboard and have lunch in the Colonnade, and the menu today was superb! I went a little wild—Jamaican rice, grilled wahoo, vegetarian curry, and a curry scallop cake. Wow!!!
For dessert, I couldn’t pass up the coconut cake with vanilla anglaise… delicioso!
The pastry chef is an absolute wizard! 🧙‍♂️

The sun made a brief appearance during lunch, but it still looks like more rain is on the way.
We also heard that one of Bora Bora’s famous tourist stops, Bloody Mary’s Bar, is currently closed for renovation. The last tender back to the ship is at 9:30 pm.

The menu tonight for the Colonnade looks tempting! 🤔
Tomorrow we’ll be in Huahine, and the forecast is showing only a 40% chance of morning showers. Hopefully, we’ll finally get a beach day! 🌴☀️

For those who enjoy a little cruise math 📊, there are currently 408 passengers onboard. This Saturday in Papeete, 79 guests will be disembarking while 84 new passengers will be boarding. That means we’ll continue on to Auckland with a total of 413 passengers.

I forgot to mention earlier that our red wine tasting has been rescheduled to January 30th at 2:00 pm. A much more convenient time, and it will now be held in The Restaurant—which is a much better venue. 🍷

Cruise Day #25 - Sea Day 5 of 5

Note: The date is still one day behind the date onboard. Hopefully, that will be rectified tomorrow when we are on land.  Last night was alm...
